Cold Forming

The Alken-Ziegler cold forming team has over 40 formers, ranging from small nut formers to one of the largest cold formers in the world. The National 1875 is unique for its size and complexity, and is one of only eight known to be in production worldwide. In addition, our numerous 750 and 1000 formers (3/4 inch and 1 inch machines) allow for superior flexibility within the market and allow us to be highly competitive in a price sensitive market. We have extensive experience in forming many different types of metal, including steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, and copper.

Some of the advantages of forming are:

1) Cold forming can be used to create complex shapes. An assembly with two or more pieces can often be formed as a single piece to increase strength while reducing cost.

2) Cold forming creates stronger components and produces minimal scrap.

3) Cold forming can produce components at speeds up to 180 parts per minute.

4) Cold Forming can produce near-net shapes for CNC machining applications and grinding, as well as net shapes that require no further processing. Cold forming can reduce machining costs by forming the part at or very near the actual customer requirements. This application reduces the overall cost and produces a more stable part.
